Has anyone ever fired a large caliber rifle into the forrest and wondered where the bullet went? It has to stop somewhere, and I was fortunate enough to find it. My brother and I cut this little ole cherry tree earlier this year and while we were re-sawing it we ran into some blue staining that shouldn't have been there. We were pretty sure what had caused it and proceded carefully. Finally came to the hole, ran a wire into the hole and proded around to find the source. Cut down a little closer and dug out what was left. No damage to the saw blade, but it did mess up a pretty good piece of wood. There was a good bit of it so I don't guess a few pieces will be missed. Below is one that was ruined by the bullet. Top half looks OK The bottom half didn't fair as well. Here is the entry wound. You never know what suprises you will find when sawing into a tree. |

Got my eye on a great bigun. Strappin it to the hood ain't so bad. The hard part is shooting it down. Last one took 4 1/2 weeks and a bunch of ammo to bring down. ![]() Serge, Thats not the worst thing I have seen hit with a saw. I used to off-bare on occasion for an old fellow some years ago. He was sawing a big white oak and all at once bits started flying every which way. I ran, He ran, heck everyone was running. The saw bogged down and we went back to see what happened. There was one of those ceramic pole insulators grown in the tree. Ruined the blade on the mill. Ron, I may just build with it one of these days and put a Gray Burst on it ![]() |

I've heard Serge plays his Mando with a 9mm, so he must have holes all over his, not the same thing, I guess! ![]() ![]() ![]() Billy Dean Thomas |
